The record
Historian Michael Kleen records staff stories of footsteps, voices, and doors moving at Deer Park Tavern. He notes that some colorful accounts cannot be substantiated. The University of Delaware also discusses the tavern’s Poe legend while correcting an impossible connection between Poe’s visit and the earlier publication of The Tell-Tale Heart.
