Hot Lake's large brick complex served visitors seeking mineral-water treatments and later housed a hospital. Travel writer Megan Wells stayed overnight and documented guest accounts of apparitions, unexplained cries and a piano supposedly playing unattended. Her own account also considers an ordinary explanation for a shaking bed: a passing train.
