Massachusetts

18 sourced records. Reports are attributed claims, not proof of supernatural activity.

Barnstable · Massachusetts

Barnstable House

Ghost Hunters examined reports that this house and the nearby Beechwood Inn shared a woman-in-white apparition. Other Barnstable accounts describe a sea captain and a child called Lucy. The network’s recap says the investigators interpreted audio recordings as supporting some claims at the house, while their visit to the inn produced less evidence.

Barnstable · Massachusetts

Beechwood Inn

A woman in white was reportedly seen moving between the Beechwood Inn and neighboring Barnstable House. Ghost Hunters investigated both properties in the same episode. Its recap distinguishes their results: the team interpreted some recordings from the house as evidence, but found little at the inn during that visit. The shared apparition remains a reported connection.

Newburyport · Massachusetts

Charles Street Schoolhouse

Between 1870 and 1875, reports of knocking and moving doors drew crowds to Newburyport's Charles Street school. Teacher Lucy Perkins reportedly encountered a translucent boy. Boston Globe coverage and an 1873 pamphlet preserved the controversy. The building later became a private residence, with no public access implied.

Concord · Massachusetts

Concord's Colonial Inn

Reports at the Colonial Inn describe children's figures in the corridors, soldiers in Revolutionary-era dress, voices, flickering lights and bangs from empty rooms. These accounts drew Ghost Hunters and other investigators. The site's historic Concord setting is real; the identities of the reported apparitions remain interpretations.

New Bedford · Massachusetts

Fort Taber / Fort Rodman Complex

The Ghost Hunters investigation covered the fort, museum and Battery Milliken after visitors reported uniformed figures, voices and unusual sounds. Investigators recreated some noises, considered lighting effects on mannequins, and found hanging models could trigger motion sensors. They also interpreted recordings as voices, leaving the reported figures’ identities unresolved.

Salem · Massachusetts

Hawthorne Hotel

The Hawthorne opened in 1925 and has guest reports of moving furniture, a woman's apparition and unexplained sounds. Ghost Hunters investigated in 2007. Other screen appearances, including Bewitched and Joy, concern filming history; they do not document paranormal events at the hotel.

Florida / North Adams · Massachusetts

Hoosac Tunnel

PBS's New England Legends examines the Hoosac Tunnel's construction deaths and subsequent haunting reputation. The program connects the tunnel's nickname, the Bloody Pit, with the human cost of nineteenth-century railroad engineering. Its ghost stories are interpretations of a documented tragedy, not proof of spirits.

North Adams · Massachusetts

Houghton Mansion

A 2004 North Adams Transcript report described Masons hearing noises, unexplained slamming doors and lights at the former home of mayor Albert Houghton. Paranormal investigators interpreted sensations and equipment behavior as spirit activity. The newspaper also recorded uncertainty among participants, rather than establishing a supernatural explanation.

Blackstone · Massachusetts

Ladouceur Family Account

Roxanne Ladouceur reported her couch shifting violently while she sat on it; another family member described a dark mass approaching in the basement. Ghost Hunters investigated these accounts and interpreted a low recorded sound as words asking for help. The television recap preserves the family’s claims and the investigators’ reading of ambiguous audio.

Fall River · Massachusetts

Lizzie Borden House

Andrew and Abby Borden were killed in this house in 1892; Lizzie Borden was tried and acquitted. The site now offers tours and overnight accommodation and promotes reports of unexplained activity. The documented murders and trial should never be confused with proof of haunting or with the familiar rhyme’s inaccuracies. This is a strong case for examining how a real criminal investigation, later retellings and paranormal tourism overlap.

Barnstable · Massachusetts

Old Jail House

Investigator and tour guide Derek Bartlett described recording sounds he interpreted as voices in this historic wooden jail. Visitors reported fabric-like rustling and dragging noises across the floor. His account appeared in a 2017 regional interview, providing an attributable source for the jail's reported activity.

Boston · Massachusetts

Omni Parker House

Bellman John Brehm recalled in a 1992 interview that an elderly guest around 1950 reported a heavyset, mustached apparition outside room 1078. Security found nothing. Other accounts describe whispering in empty corridors and unexplained elevator calls. Guests sometimes identify the figure with hotel founder Harvey Parker.

Stockbridge · Massachusetts

Red Lion Inn

Staff and guests describe a girl carrying flowers and a top-hatted man. Room 301 and the fourth floor recur in accounts of knocks, cold spots and electrical disturbances. Some overnight guests report sensing a figure at the foot of their bed.

Gardner · Massachusetts

S.K. Pierce Mansion

Built for chair manufacturer Sylvester Knowlton Pierce in 1875, this Victorian house now offers tours and investigations. Its operator records reports of voices, footsteps, doors moving and apparitions. Family deaths form part of the property's history; they do not establish a supernatural explanation for visitors' experiences.

Lenox · Massachusetts

The Mount

Reports reach back to the house's use by Foxhollow School in 1942, when students described a dark shape at their beds. Later theatre workers, staff and visitors reported footsteps, whispered names and unexplained perfume. The Mount collects these accounts and presents them during guided evening tours.

Quincy · Massachusetts

USS Salem

The preserved naval vessel assisted victims of the 1953 Greek earthquakes. Its paranormal program associates reported presences with patients and sailors, while offering guided investigations. These are the operator's claims, not established explanations for unusual experiences. The ship also appeared on Travel Channel television.

Lenox · Massachusetts

Ventfort Hall

Ventfort Hall's operator offers tours based on firsthand reports of unusual encounters within the mansion. Guide and author Robert Oakes presents the stories in the rooms where witnesses say they happened. The program distinguishes storytelling tours from active investigations and treats the estate's reputed spirits respectfully.

Oxford · Massachusetts

Voas Family Account

The Voas family reported figures, footsteps and voices across three generations. Ghost Hunters found that outside voices could travel through an uninsulated closet passage, and an object thought to be a braid of hair was identified as rope. Investigators also recorded sounds they interpreted as unexplained, illustrating how different claims in one home can receive different explanations.
